Typically on the market you will find personal coaching and professional coaching, the latter also being called executive coaching or corporate coaching. Then you have all sorts of specialised coaching: in diet, creativity, career, fitness etc.
As a Co-Active Coach trained and certified with the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) I refer to life coaching. What it means is that we hold a holistic view of coaching. When I coach you, I coach you as a whole person, and the coaching addresses your whole life.
Of course your reasons to start coaching might be very specific: thinking it is about time you sort out your marriage; you want this promotion you were promised 2 years ago; you have difficulties communicating with your collaborators; lots of exciting projects are coming to light and you can't decide which one is the most compelling… And be assured that whatever you bring to our sessions is indeed what we will talk about. What I will do though, as your coach, is also hold the big picture of who you really are and what you really want and help you see how these specific points of concern relate to the big picture.
Also, there might be a pattern around those apparently isolated issues. For example these communication difficulties you have experienced at work might also appear in different areas of your life without you realising it; or if you really go for that promotion, your family life might be affected. All areas of your life are actually interconnected.
So what I want for you is to bring your whole self wherever you are.
