Personal coaching and executive coaching actually provide different frameworks to coaching. As a Personal Coach and as an Executive Coach, I work within both frameworks. Here are some similarities and differences:
The client has the answers and the resources to find more
The agenda comes from the client
The client is seen as a whole within a system
We identify the client's values and relate them to the client's objectives
We identify the client's self-limiting beliefs and work on how to manage them
We explore different perspectives on the situations the client is facing and empower the client to make conscious choices
We recognize the importance of emotions and we create a safe space to experience them and learn from them
